Ang buwan ng Hulyo ay isang masayang buwan para sa amin na lumilikha ng aklat pambata. Bakit? Noong taong 1889, ikatlong Martes ng Hulyo, nalathala ang ginawang retelling ni Dr Jose Rizal ng “The Monkey and The Tortoise” sa Trubner’s Oriental Record sa London.

Rommel Joson wins 2025 PBBY-De Jesus Wordless Book Prize
The Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) proudly announces Rommel E. Joson as the winner of the 2025 De Jesus Wordless Book Prize for “Alikabok sa Liwanag.”
PBBY also recognizes Al Estrella, Dani Go, and Ray Sunga as the Honorable Mention Awardees.

Tin Javier Wins 2025 PBBY-Alcala Grand Prize
The Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) awards this year’s PBBY-Alcala Grand Prize to Christina “Tin” Javier. Javier’s illustrations are based on this year’s PBBY-Salanga Grand Prize winner, Three Thimbles by Patricia Marie Grace S. Gomez.
PBBY also recognizes Honorable Mention awardee Gervin Angelo A. Andres

2025 PBBY-Alcala Prize: Call for Entries
The Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) is now accepting entries for the 2025 PBBY-Alcala Prize. The winner shall be given a cash prize of PHP25,000.00, a medal, and an opportunity to be published. Prizes will be awarded at a ceremony to be held during the celebration of National Children’s Book Day (NCBD) on July 15, 2025.

Patricia Sy Gomez Wins 2025 PBBY-Salanga Grand Prize for Chapter Books
The Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) awards this year’s PBBY-Salanga Grand Prize to Patricia Sy Gomez for her story, Three Thimbles. Inspired by the women who sewed the first flag of the Philippine Republic, this story brings their quiet act of resistance to life.
PBBY also recognizes Honorable Mention winner, Maria Carlizza “Arli” C. Pagaduan for her story about the Culion Leper Colony, Carmel’s Hands.
