The PBBY is a private, non-stock, non-profit organization committed to the development of children's literature in the Philippines.

The PBBY is the lead agency in the celebration of National Children's Book Day (NCBD). This is celebrated every third week of July to commemorate the anniversary of the publication of Jose Rizal's "The Monkey and the Turtle" in Trubner's Oriental Record in London.

Young Artist from Bulacan wins 2013 PBBY-Alcala

The PBBY awards the 2013 PBBY-Alcala Prize to Dominic Agsaway, an illustrator from Bulacan and a member of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (Ang InK). This is Agsaway’s first time to win the contest.

This year’s PBBY-Alcala Prize called for entries based on the 2013 PBBY-Salanga Prize-winning story, "Ngumiti si Andoy" written by Michael Jude C. Tumamac, a story inspired by the life of Andres Bonifacio.

Invitation to Bid

The Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) invites all publishers to bid for the publishing of the works that won the 2013 PBBY-Salanga Prize and the 2013 PBBY-Alcala Prize.

The 2013 PBBY-Salanga Prize went to Michael Jude Tumamac for his story, Ngumiti si Andoy. The 2013 PBBY-Alcala Prize went to Dominic Agsaway.

The winning bidder shall have the privilege of not only publishing into a book the winners’ works, but also bear the official PBBY medal on the cover of the said publications.

The publisher of the winning works shall be decided by both the winning author and illustrator.

Deadline for submission of bids is on April 29, 2013.
