ALCALA PRIZE
Fucio Wins Alcala Anew
This year's PBBY-Alcala Prize called for entries based on the 2012 PBBY-Salanga Prize-winning story, "Anong Gupit Natin Ngayon?" a heartwarming story about a child and his father, written by Russell Molina. Coincidentally, both Molina and Fucio won their first PBBY-Salanga Prize and PBBY-Alcala Prize, respectively, in 2003. Garnering honorable mention were artists Aldy Aguirre, Dominic Agsaway and Jonathan Rañola. Fucio shall receive Twenty-Five Thousand Pesos, a medal, and an opportunity to be published. Prizes will be awarded during the National Children’s Book Day ceremonies on July 17, 2012. Molina Wins PBBY-Salanga Prize Anew
For the second time, the Philippine Board on Books for Young People awards the 2012 PBBY-Salanga Prize to children’s book author, Russell Molina. Molina’s winning story, "Anong Gupit Natin Ngayon?" is a heartwarming story about a child and his father. An advertising executive, Molina, had previously won the PBBY-Salanga for his story "Sandosenang Kuya" in 2003. Honorable mention went to Felinda Bagas for her story "The Little Girl in a Box," and Segundo Matias for "Ang Papag ni Tatang."
